Darren believes it's important to listen to and communicate with the community in an impartial manner, advocating for our community to MPD, our Council Member, the Mayor's Office and DC BID (among many others).

Darren has lived in DC for over 16 years, and in our ANC district for over six years. Darren and his wife have been married for five years and love the community. They live in the Clara Barton and plan on staying for the long-term!
At Thrive DC Darren created a financial literary program for unhoused women to assist in promoting their financial stability. In Texas, Darren volunteered with the Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp which provides 6/7/8th graders from historically underserved and underrepresented communities a fun STEM curriculum. In his home state of Minnesota, Darren coached youth baseball and bowling while in college.

Professional life

Darren has a PhD in Economics from American University and a Master’s in Mathematics from the University of Texas. Darren's dissertation was on the 2007-08 financial crisis, its causes, and also included a historical essay focused on the Great Depression.
Darren has worked for two independent agencies in the federal government (U.S. International Trade Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission). Darren's roles have been non-partisan and required working with a very diverse group of experts, lawyers, and other stakeholders.
Darren is also a board member at the Clara Barton Condo and serves as its Treasurer.
